Amanda Ellen Green Cochran

July 10, 1970 — May 19, 2025

Amanda Ellen Green Cochran, 54, of Honaker, Va., formerly of Punta Gorda, Fla., passed away on Monday, May 19, 2025, at Ballad Health Hospice, Bristol, Tenn. She was born July 10, 1970, in Welch, W.Va. to the late George "JR” Green and Bonnie June Scarberry-Green-Elkins. Amanda made her home in Honaker, Va.; surrounded by the beauty of mountains and country roads reminiscent of where she spent her childhood. Her greatest joys in life were sharing in the love, laughter and celebrations of family and friends. Amanda’s arms were always wide open; providing love, comfort and a safe haven for anyone in need and she was blessed with the love and support of a large extended family. In addition to her family and friends, Amanda found much comfort in being outdoors and tending to her exotic plants and flowers. An animal lover at heart, her home was a sanctuary for all creatures great and small—a place of comfort and second chances. Whether nursing an injured animal back to health or rescuing a stray from the streets, Amanda’s heart knew no bounds. Her legacy lives on in the many lives she touched, both human and animal.

Amanda is survived by her companion and partner, Robert Higgins, of Honaker, Va.; two children, Ashley Summer Green and partner, Daniel Glore, of Marion, Ky. and Joshua Aaron Cochran and partner, Laura Remley, of Honaker, Va.; six stepchildren, Ravelyn Lee, Kasinda Higgins, Ellen Winward, Erika Mercer, and Erik Pruitt, all of Punta Gorda, Fla., and Allen Valentine of Kentucky; 10 grandchildren, Anthony Greenwood, Landon Glore, and Paisley Glore, all of Marion, Ky., Jaydin Cochran of Murrells Inlet, S.C., Collin Cochran of Port Charlotte, Fla., Kaylee Cochran of North Port, Fla., Isaiah Lee and Bonnie Montgomery of Punta Gorda, Fla., Brooklynn Hoda and Zoey Remley of Honaker, Va.; six siblings: Mike Green and wife, Sheila, of Welch, W.Va.; Sandy Blankenship and husband, Mike, of Bristol, Va.; Mark Green and wife, Lynda, of Punta Gorda, Fla.; Jeff Green and wife, Brenda, of Bristol, Va.; Rita Bailey of Oceana, W.Va.; and Carla Murasky of Valdese, N.C. She also leaves behind many cherished nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends who will forever hold her memory in their hearts.

In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by a sister, Margaret Kathleen Vance.

A celebration of life for Amanda will be held at a later date.
