Darlene Underwood Taylor

Darlene Underwood Taylor, born May 21, 1950, to the late Blaine Underwood and Dorothy Mae Ratliff Underwood formerly of Grundy, Va., succumbed to a brief bout of dementia and died peacefully in her sleep on Wednesday, October 28, 2026.

In addition to her parents, Darlene was also preceded in death by her brother, James Underwood; a daughter, Leslie Sharon Underwood; and her son, Robert Allen Taylor.

Survivors include a sister, Mary Ellen Gray; two daughters, Pam Gray and Teresa Pope; four grandchildren; three great grandchildren; and a nephew also survive.

Darlene worked at Maple Grove and Greendale Home for the Aged in the Kitchen and retired from Wal-Mart.

Many, many thanks to Caris for your amazing care, concern, empathy and always being there. The care Darlene received will never be forgotten.

According to her wishes, Darlene will be cremated.
