Elizabeth Ann Mullins

July 5, 1941 — May 12, 2026

Elizabeth Ann "Liz" Mullins, age 84, of Johnson City, Tenn., passed away on Tuesday, May 12, 2026. Born July 5, 1941, she was the daughter of the late Clarence Adkins and Eunice Ratliff Adkins. In addition to her parents, Liz was preceded in death by five half-siblings.

Liz was raised in the Grundy Baptist Church and was a member of Boones Creek Christian Church until her passing. She was employed as a school secretary at Grundy Junior High and later Grundy Senior High where she loved interacting with the kids. Liz was so young at heart and beamed around young people. She never passed up an opportunity for good conversation and helping those needing advice or guidance. She enjoyed fellowshipping with friends while bowling at Sandy Valley Lanes during her years in Grundy, Virginia where she was league president for many years. She treasured her time participating in her Grundy High School Class of 1959 reunions where she and her classmates were active for many decades. She was an artist in the kitchen and loved cooking for her family and making her famous fudge during the Christmas season. In her later years, moving to Johnson City, Tenn. to be close to her son's family, she loved greeting the grand-kids after school with her home cooking, providing each with their individual favorite meal or snack. She cherished that time with them re-creating for them desserts from her childhood, like the drug store chocolate ice cream float while sharing her stories. Liz was a wonderful storyteller and even wrote her grandchildren a book with tales from her hometown and childhood.

Liz is survived by her beloved husband of 66 years, Clancy Carroll Mullins; her son, John Kevin Mullins and his wife, Sara Harris Mullins, of Johnson City, Tenn.; her sister, Dorothy "Dottie" Deshano of Wirtz, Va.; and two grandchildren, Brantley Mullins of Salt Lake City, Utah, and John-Kevin Mullins, II of Johnson City, Tenn.

At Liz's request, no services will be held. A private memorial ceremony will be held with family at a later date. Please give your condolences and personal message through this site and Facebook.
