James Clifton "Jim" Jackson, age 80, of Abingdon, Va., passed away on Memorial Day 2024 at Johnston Memorial Hospital.
He was born June 27, 1943, in Grayson County, Va. to the late Richard Lee Jackson and Edith Vaught Jackson. He married Linda Louise Wilson Jackson on December 1, 1973.
Jim's long military career began May 4, 1964, when he enlisted in the United States Navy. He served four years and 11 months and subsequently joined the United States Air Force where he was permanently stationed in Texas. He retired in 1994 with 22 years of service.
He is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Linda Louise Wilson Jackson; beloved rat terriers, Mariah and Skeeter, who miss him dearly; and friends, Craig and Marie Rickenback of Rock Hill, S.C. and Bob and Gail Mercer of Abingdon, Va.
A private scattering will be held at a future date.
