Jimmie Lee Fields, age 90, of Lewis Center, Ohio, previously lifelong resident of Delaware, Ohio, unexpectedly passed away as the result of an accident while on a road trip with his brother, Chester Fields.
Jim, who celebrated his 90th birthday in May, led a long and extraordinary life and remained extremely active until his passing. He was a skilled carpenter by trade.
Jim was an avid car show enthusiast, a historical car collector, and loved rebuilding classic Jeepsters. He traveled his whole life. He took family vacations every summer so his kids could experience several different states. He loved camping, frequent auctions, and any yard sales he could find! His girlfriend, Joyce, and he camped and attended car shows often. He was a member of the Jeepster Club. In his retirement, he was traveling more than he was at home. His life was always an adventure. A family man that was always there to help with anything needed. He was an ornery person and the most stubborn man we’ve ever known. He was a very Unique Soul that will be greatly and lovingly missed.
He was born to the late Chester A. Fields and Lulu M. Fields in Columbus, Ohio. In addition to his parents, Jim was also preceded in death by his grandson, Shawn M. Day; several brothers; and sisters, Mary Lou Dutcher and Joyce Wedemeyer.
He is survived by five children: Suzy Haag and Mike Timura of Lewis Center, Ohio; Perry Fields and Linda of Raymond, Ohio; Kathleen Fields and Chris Renwick of Loudonville, Ohio; Sherrie Trant of Lewis Center, Ohio; Debbie Galleger and Chris of Delaware, Ohio. Grandchildren: Steve and Stephanie Haag of Ridgeway, Colorado; Sharon Shattuck, of Marion, Ohio; Max and Jenna Fowler of Lancaster, Ohio; Molly and Devin Collins of Wildomar, California; Tammy, Tommy, Christopher and Mitchell of Ohio. Great grandchildren: Claire and Zoe Shattuck, Brielle and Sydney Haag; Nora Fowler; Enola Collins; and one baby on the way. He is also survived by his loving brother, Chester A. Fields and Teresa, (SIL) Robbie Fields. Many nieces and nephews. Also, many special friends that were like family. Special mention to Angie, Arie and Tow Truck Chris, all of whom he loved like his own.
