John Walter Widener, Jr.

John Walter "Johnny" Widener, Jr., age 55, of Abingdon, Va., went to be with the Lord on Thursday, May 22, 2025, at Bristol Regional Medical Center.  He was born May 10, 1970, John Walter Widener, Sr. and Helen Bernice Worley Widener in Bristol, Tenn.  He was an auto mechanic who enjoyed working on race cars and spending time with loved ones.

In addition to his father, Johnny was also preceded in death by his granddaughter, Mia Shortt.  

He is survived by his mother, of the home; three children: David Widener, of the home; Beth Waddell and husband, Danny, of Bristol, Tenn.; and Johnathan Widener, of Coeburn, Va.; former spouse of 23 years, Angela Wright, of Coeburn, Va.; four siblings:  Denise Roe, of Roanoke, Va.; Richard Dixon, of Nashville, Tenn.; William Glen "Peanut" Widener, of the home; and Diana Stine, of Germany; six grandchildren, Kayden Widener, Gracin Shortt, Kaylen Widener, Kira Widener, Donald Widener, and Bryson Widener; friend, John "Tiny" Mullins and wife, Melissa, of Abingdon, Va.; and several nieces and nephews.

A private service will be held for the family.
