Michael Anthony Smith

Michael Anthony "Tony" Smith, age 60, of Bristol, Va., went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, March 1, 2026, at his residence. He was born June 22, 1965, in Ft. Sill, Oklahoma and served his country in the United States Army. Tony was preceded in death by his father, John Smith.

He is survived by his mother, Margaret Fields Smith Helwig of Chilhowie, Va.; two sons, Lamar Alexander Smith of Washington and Brandon Markel Smith of Cleveland, Ohio; three siblings: Nathan Smith and wife, Lolita, of Bristol, Va.; Angelia Smith of Chilhowie, Va.; and Daryl Smith of Columbus, Ohio.

A homegoing ceremony will be held on Saturday, March 7, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. at the Cross of Christ Worship Center, 670 Norfolk Ave., Bristol, VA, 24201, with Pastor Mark Edwards officiating.  Military honors will be provided by the Virginia National Guard.  Robert Baker, Justin Carter, Nathan Fields, Steve Fields, Richard Jeter and Johnny Whitley will serve as honorary pallbearers.  Interment will be private in Foster Family Cemetery.  Visitation will be held from 12:00 p.m.-1:00 p.m. Saturday at the church.
