Wallace D. "Bill" Scott, age 76, of Piney Flatts, Tenn., went to his Heavenly Father on Thursday, October 8, 2026, at his home surrounded by his family. He was born November 19, 1949, to the late Carl Scott, Sr. and Irene Florence Feather Scott in Watauga, Tenn.
Bill was a highly decorated veteran of the United States Marine Corps, having honorably served his country during the Vietnam War. In recognition of his distinguished service and bravery, he was awarded the Bronze Star and the Navy Commendation Medal with Valor. Following his military service, Bill enjoyed a successful career with Enterprise Trucking, from which he retired. He was also a certified electrician.
In addition to his parents, Bill was also preceded in death by six siblings: Frank Scott; Carl Scott, Jr.; Herman Scott; Bobby Joe Scott; Jerry Lee Scott; and Jenie Scott.
Bill is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Helen Marie Gray Scott; three children: Shawn Scott of Watauga, Tenn.; Jeffery Scott of Johnson City, Tenn.; Angie Amburgery and husband, Jimmy, Bristol, Tenn.; five siblings: Jackson Scott and wife, Melissa, of Watauga, Tenn.; Gene Scott and wife, Mary, of Watauga, Tenn.; Ray Scott and wife, Pricilla, of Blountville, Tenn.; Patsy Bupp of Gainesville, Fla; and Brenda Scott of Watauga, Tenn.; 11 grandchildren, Tyler Scott and wife, Hannah; Brittany Scott James and husband, Jordan; Savannah Scott; Hunter Scott and wife, Morgan; Gunner Carmack; Jared Scott; Alexis Hale, and husband, Anthony; Ethan Scott; Samara Scott; Declan Scott; and Briar Scott; six great grandchildren, Lincoln, Laurel, Klover, Aiden, McKenna, and Grayson; and an additional great grandson who is expected in late October, Walton; two special friends, Doug Porteous and Gail Plum; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
A celebration of life will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, October 13, 2026, at Piney Flats United Methodist Church, 225 Methodist Church St., Piney Flats, TN 37686, with Dr. Paul Humphrey officiating. Military honors will be provided by the United States Marine Corps and the Boone Dam VFW Post 4933.
